HOLY WEEK AND EASTER PROGRAMME

… Begins Today with Palm Sunday. A day on which we celebrate the Lord’s entry into Jerusalem. Palms will be blessed at all Masses. The 11am Mass will begin in the Hall at 10.50am with the Blessing of the Palms, followed by a Procession to the Church with a Solemn Reading of the Passion according to St Matthew. The Easter Programme is available in the porch.

GOOD FRIDAY

Is a Day of Fasting and Abstinence. There will be Stations Of The Cross at 10:30am led by children based on the sufferings of Jesus. Solemn Liturgy of the Passion of Our Lord at 3pm with the Liturgy of the word, Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion. There will be a collection for Holy Places. Last Words of Christ at 7:00pm. Novena for Divine Mercy begins today.

Chrism Mass at St George’s Cathedral: Wed. 01st April 26 at 11.30am

We will move 10 am Mass to 9am on that day.

Easter Offerings

Your personal gift to the Priests of the Parish, envelopes are at the back of the Church. You may know that the Clergy do not receive a salary as such and rely upon the Christmas and Easter Offerings to supplement any donation received through Mass Stipends and Stole Fees for Funerals.

Easter Vigil Mass: Children holding candles should be closely supervised.

If you have attended the Fire Marshal training and attending the Vigil Mass, please let us know as well. Thank you.

Attention- Altar Servers & Sacristans: We are inviting Altar servers and Sacristans across all the Masses for a meeting on Tuesday 31St March at 4.30pm in the Church in preparation for Easter Triduum, please remember to sign the rota for Holy week.

Easter Food Blessing: Holy Saturday 04th Apr. @10:30am

*Święconka* (sh-vee-en-soon-kah)– the Easter Food Blessing is one of the most enduring and beloved Polish traditions. Baskets containing a sample of Easter foods (eggs, bread, ham, a figurine of lamb made of sugar or bread, salt and pepper) are brought to the church to be blessed on Holy Saturday. The baskets are traditionally lined with a white linen or lace napkin and decorated with ribbons and spring flowers.

Everyone is welcome to bring their food from 10am.

Children’s Liturgy Group – Sunday 9.30 am Mass

Churches Together in Carshalton Good Friday Walk – 3rd April

You are welcome to join with other local churches in the Good Friday Walk of Witness. Meet at 11.30 a.m. in Carshalton Park, behind the Ruskin Road Methodists Church and proceeding to Carshalton High Street, Beacon Grove around 11.45 a.m. The final stop is at the War Memorial by Carshalton Ponds around 12.15 a.m. for a short service.

Zoom Prayer Group

The Monday Prayer Group has been led by Holy Cross parishioners for a few years. It is held over Zoom at 8 p.m.  every two weeks and members also come from other Catholic parishes.

There is reflection on the Sunday gospel followed by prayers of intercession.  Meetings run for around one hour. If you are interested, please use the enquiry form on the Parish website or email the Parish office or contact Alex.

Young Adult Mass: Sunday 29th March

Come along to the Young Adults Group after 6:30pm mass. In keeping with the Lenten season, we want to express almsgiving by working with a local charity to give to those in need. We will be putting together non-perishable food items, and essentials as well as prayer cards to give. Let this be an opportunity to support your own journey of almsgiving this Lent.

Food Bank Donation:

Please donate if you can. Items that are needed include: Shower gel, Shampoo/conditioner, Deodorant, Sanitary pads, Toilet roll…

 UHT milk, Tinned meat, Tinned fruit, Sponge/rice puddings, Coffee…

Wintershall Passion of Jesus, Good Friday April 3rd, Trafalgar Square

Free performances at 12pm and 3.15pm.  A dramatic presentation of the Passion of Jesus which should not be missed.  Get there early to get the best views in Trafalgar Square. Come prepared to sit on the ground in whatever the weather may be. You won’t regret witnessing this extraordinary event. March Missio Collection

The next Red Box collection is due at the end of March. Please collect your envelope from the back of the church. It contains the latest Mission Today which gives news of the work of missionaries in Myanmar in supporting displaced people. It is dangerous work due to continuing conflict. Please pray for them.

Build A Better Marriage

This is a one-day marriage-enrichment course aimed at couples whether married five years or 55 years. There is no charge and no group sharing. Couples have the opportunity individually to explore their relationship and levels of communication, which is the key to relationship. It starts at 9am and finishes by 4.30pm. Dates and venues in South London are: May 23 (Wallington) and October 3 (West Norwood). But there are also other dates elsewhere in Southwark diocese.

The Annual Marriage Masson July 11 at 3pm

at St George’s Cathedral. Couples celebrating special anniversaries this year – their first, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th or any later – are invited to apply for places.
