Second Collection This Weekend for Poor Parishes

Formerly the Needs of the Diocese collection, this collection enables the Archbishop to make grants to some of the poorer parishes in the diocese.

 Palm Sunday – Next Weekend

A day on which we celebrate the Lord’s entry into Jerusalem. Palms will be blessed at all Masses. The 11am Mass will begin at 10.50 am in the Hall with the Blessing of the Palms, followed by a Procession to the Church with a Solemn Reading of the Passion according to St. Matthew.

Holy Week and Easter Programme:

The Holy Week and Easter programme is available in the porch.

Happy Easter: As Easter approaches, the parish clergy wish all the parishioners who are travelling a very happy and blessed Easter, filled with joy, peace and a renewed hope of the Resurrection.

Lenten Penitential Service Friday 27th March-6:30pm

Come for a time of personal reflection through scripture and music, and the opportunity for private confession throughout the service. There will be two opportunities to be led through a guided examination of conscience – at the beginning and at around 7:15 pm.  A great way to prepare for Holy Week

Attention- Altar Servers & Sacristans: We are inviting Altar servers and Sacristans across all the Masses for a meeting on Tuesday 31St March at 4.30pm in the Church in preparation for Easter Triduum, please remember to sign to rota for Holy week.

Church Cleaning: Next Friday  after 8am Mass we will clean the church. If You are free, please join us. Thank you.

RCIA Journey in Faith: Celebration of the Scrutinies

This Sunday, as our catechumens prepare for their baptisms at Easter, we will be celebrating the final scrutiny during the 9:30am Mass.

Theme of the 3rd Scrutiny: Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead.

Jesus reveals himself as the resurrection and the life.

Is there anything in my life that holds me in a binding grip? 

BIBLE STUDY

Monday 23rd March at 7.30pm, Parish hallAll welcome. Looking ahead towards Easter. You are warmly invited to come together in preparation for Holy Week. Bring food and drink for sharing. Listen to psalms and passages from the Old Testament in the light of the New Testament.

Children’s Liturgy Group  Sunday 9.30 am Mass

Zoom Prayer Group

The Monday Prayer Group has been led by Holy Cross parishioners for a few years. It is held over Zoom at 8 p.m.  every two weeks and members also come from other Catholic parishes.

There is reflection on the Sunday gospel followed by prayers of intercession.  Meetings run for around one hour. If you are interested, please use the enquiry form on the Parish website or email the Parish office or contact Alex.

Youth group: Sunday 22nd March from 12pm -2pm

11-17 group – FAITH, FOOD and FUN

The 11am Mass will be dedicated to our youth. In the hall a light lunch will be provided followed by opening prayer, games, table tennis, pool, table football, craft table. Young Adult Mass: Sunday 29th March

Come along to the Young Adults Group after 6:30pm mass. In keeping with the Lenten season, we want to express almsgiving by working with a local charity to give to those in need. We will be putting together non-perishable food items, and essentials as well as prayer cards to give. Let this be an opportunity to support your own journey of almsgiving this Lent. Join like-minded people to discuss how our Lenten journeys are going and find community while helping our community.

Food Bank Donation:

The Young Adults group is organising a food bank donation drive. These food banks provide emergency food and support to people in crisis. Please donate if you can. Items that are needed include: Shower gel, Shampoo/conditioner, Deodorant, Sanitary pads,

Toilet roll…

UHT milk, Tinned meat, Tinned fruit, Sponge/rice puddings, Coffee…

March Missio Collection

The next Red Box collection is due at the end of March. Please collect your envelope from the back of the church. It contains the latest Mission Today which gives news of the work of missionaries in Myanmar in supporting displaced people. It is dangerous work due to continuing conflict. Please pray for them.

Build A Better Marriage

This is a one-day marriage-enrichment course aimed at couples whether married five years or 55 years. There is no charge and no group sharing. Couples have the opportunity individually to explore their relationship and levels of communication, which is the key to relationship. It starts at 9am and finishes by 4.30pm. Dates and venues in South London are: May 23 (Wallington) and October 3 (West Norwood). But there are also other dates elsewhere in Southwark diocese.

The Annual Marriage Mass on July 11 at 3pm

This popular annual event will take place at St George’s Cathedral. Couples celebrating special anniversaries this year – their first, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th or any later anniversary – are invited to apply for places. They will then receive a personal invitation to the Mass from Archbishop John Wilson and have an opportunity to renew their marriage vows. Apply to: mflsw@rcaos.org.uk
