Second Collection For Fr Wenna Henry Tiku – RIP Funeral

A Second Collection is being taken to assist with the funeral this weekend. Thank you for your support and generosity.

Our Parish Priest – Father Wenna Henry Tiku – RIP Funeral

It will take place on Sat. 8th Feb. at 12 noon here at Holy Cross.

The reception of the coffin will be on Friday 7th  Feb. at 6pm followed by a Vigil until 11pm.

The Funeral in Uganda will be on Sat.15th February. If you wish to go there please let the office know for arrangments. Thank you.

Flame 2025 – 15th March 2025

Flame is the largest Catholic Youth event in the UK (for those aged from school year 9 to university) and is taking place on Sat.15 March 2025 from 11am – 6pm, at Wembley Arena. Picking up on the theme for the Jubilee Year, “Pilgrims of Hope” the Flame theme is “Unstoppable” – Fan the Flame of Hope. It is open to everyone aged school Year 9 (usually 14 years old) through to University age. Typically there are large numbers of Year 10s, 11s and Sixth Formers, as well as University students. All under 18s must be accompanied.

We are organising a coach from St Elphege’s to Wembley for Flame, and have reserved the tickets via the Southwark Youth Team at the early bird cost of £29:00 p/ ticket. If you are interested, please email the office carshalton@rcaos.org.uk for arrangments asap as registration and consent will be coordinated through St Elphege’s. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Service

Churches Together in Carshalton  invite you to attend the Unity Service hosted by Holy Cross Church on Tuesday 21st January 2025 At 7.30 p.m Followed by refreshments in the Parish Centre and the AGM of Churches Together in Carshalton. The Worship Service has at it’s heart the Nicene Creed “Do You Believe this”?

Please help us welcome fellow Christians in Carshalton to this Service as we come together as One in Christ.

Intercessory Prayer sessions

On the first Tuesday of every month, just after the 10am mass, the church will be holding an Intercessory Prayer in light of Holy Scripture requesting  all our needs.  Prayer is the most effective  way to have a relationship with God who is the Highest Authority. The first Intercessory Prayer sessions started this Tuesday the 7th Jan. The event will also be live-streamed online, for those who cannot attend in person. We encourage everyone to attend and look forward to seeing many of you there.

Peace Sunday – 19th January:

Next Sunday is Peace Sunday. “The work of Pax Christi is based on the gospel and inspired by faith. Our Vision is of a world where people can live in peace, without fear of violence in all its forms. Rooted in Catholic Christianity, we work with all who share our values to abolish war and create communities of peace and justice.” Envelopes are available at the back of Church for your donations to Pax Christi.

Disability Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome in 2025.

Kairos Forum and Bishop Paul Hendricks are leading a Disability Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome in 2025. It is taking place on 26 April 2025 to 1 May. Mass will be celebrated every day, along with activities such as visiting the Holy Door and a meeting with the Holy Father in St Peter’s Square. 2025: Year of Jubilee

Pope Francis has announced that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee – an event that happens every 25 years.

The theme for the upcoming Jubilee is Pilgrims of Hope. The 2025 Jubilee will begin in Advent 2024 and will run until the Feast of the Epiphany in 2026. In the parish, we shall emphasise and encourage more prayer groups and pilgrimages within and outside the country.
