Next Weekend, Second Collection For Home Mission (The Catholic Agency For The Support Of Evangelization)

This collection provides the bishops of England and Wales with resources to support Home Mission.

Attention: London Cycle Ride

Please note that The London To Brighton Cycle Ride will take place on 15th September ’24 meaning some roads will be impacted locally.

Our Parish Feast of The Exultation of the Cross, next Sunday 15th Sept

Canon Gerard Bradley, our Episcopal Vicar, will be celebrating the 09.30 and 11.00 Masses with Fr Henry and Fr Vincent. There will then be a Parish Social event at Anthony Philip’s home, 51 The Highway, Sutton from 13.30hrs, as last year and this will include a buffet lunch and refreshments.  To enable us to calculate catering needs, would anyone who would like to attend the lunch please add their name and those of their family members and children who will be accompanying them, to the lists on the table in the Porch at the back of the Church. Thank you.

CONFIRMATION Registration

Forms are available on the table in the porch. The sessions will begin in November. Please note that the Confirmation program is only for candidates of Year 10 and above. Please pray for our candidates and catechists. The registration fee is £20.

School Forms

The priests will sign the applications at the end of Sept. Dates and times to be announced soon. Please note that some schools now require a certificate of Catholic practice to be completed instead of a supplementary form. Check with the school.

Journey in Faith 2024 – 2025 (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

It is the process by which adults can prepare to be received into the Catholic Church.  It is an opportunity to grow in their knowledge of Jesus and their relationship with Him. Weekly sessions take people through the key teachings of the Catholic Church and look at the issues facing Catholics in today’s world.

Sessions begin with an introductory evening and refreshments on THURS 19th SEPT. at 7:45 pm, parish centre. If you are interested, please speak to the RCIA co-ordinator, Kathy Ball, or contact her via the contact form on the parish website.

The Secrets of Paul – a ten weeks course on Zoom

Tuesdays, 17th September – 26th November 24 (Break for half term on 29th Oct)

Reflect on and learn from the life of St Paul as a model missionary disciple. How and why was he so fruitful in his missions? What does it mean to fulfil the call to all of us to be missionary disciples?

Children’s Liturgy Group – Sunday 9.30 am Mass

Mary’s Meals would like to invite you to collect all your foreign currency* no matter how old or obscure. Clear out your drawers and have a look under the sofa. Currently the charity feeds over 2.4 million young children one good meal every day – by giving Mary’s Meals your foreign coins and notes you can help feed the next hungry child. Mary’s Meals feeds in over 18 countries. Because of our low costs we can do this for as little as £19.15 per child /year! *We will also take UK coins/notes that aren’t legal tender.

Mary’s Meals will come and speak at the end of the Masses on the 28th/29th Sept.

Fairtrade Fortnight Mon 9th to Sun 22nd September

Annual Service: Healing & Hope

The service will be held on the 25th Sept. 24 at 6.30pm @ St George’s Cathedral and it will be led by Archbishop John Wilson.

The service is for Healing & Hope for all those that have been harmed by abuse, their families & friends. It is also to recognise the work of those that support survivors of abuse.  At the end of the service, everyone will be invited to tie a ribbon in support of those that have been harmed by abuse. Light refreshments afterwards and a place for anyone who wishes to, to talk to the safeguarding team.
