The Little Ones @ Holy Cross | Parish Stay & Play group

 

New name, new time—and now running weekly!

 

Start your week with a hot drink, friendly conversation, and a chance for the kids to play.
Our Monday morning group offers soft play, crafts, storytime, and singing for under-5s, toddlers, and babes in arms.
We offer a relaxed space designed to build a supportive local community for parents and carers—complete with snacks for the little ones, as well as tea, coffee, and biscuits for the grown-ups.

 

  • When: Mondays (now every week during term time), 9:15 – 11:15 am
  • Where: Parish Centre
  • Cost: £2.50 per household (card payments accepted)
  • Includes: Children’s snacks, hot drinks, and biscuits
  • Booking: Drop-in welcome most weeks, though pre-booking may be required for select dates.
  • Stay Connected: We have a WhatsApp group for parents and carers who’d like to stay in touch and receive group updates.

Holy Cross Film Club

 All are welcome to the monthly showings of films in the Parish Centre on Friday evenings beginning with refreshments at 7.30 p.m. Booking is not needed, just turn up.

Entry is free but donations are appreciated.

Church Flower Team                                     
 

If you love flowers and appreciate their value in Church, then you would be warmly welcomed to join the Flower Team.

We work to a rota, arranging the flowers on a Friday after the midday Mass or on a Saturday, after the 10.00am Mass.

We do simple arrangements during Ordinary Time, but more elaborate arrangements for Christmas, Easter, First Holy Communion, Confirmation and Pentecost.

Prayer Group                                                                           

Holy Cross Church takes part in an inter parish online prayer group. It meets fortnightly to read through scripture from the new testament and to discuss the meaning and impact for us living in today’s world. There is also time for intercessionary prayers.  The group meetings will be over Zoom. If you are interested in joining,  please use the contact page and someone will get back to you.

The  Catenians

The Catenians are an association of Catholic laymen who are committed to their Faith, their families, to those in need and to each other.  Our primary purpose is to establish a network of friends, which enhances their family life, strengthens their Faith and sustains them in difficult times.  We support each other, the Church, young people and those in need.  Our friendships are developed by meeting together on a monthly basis for prayer and social interaction and at a variety of social events throughout the year that bring together our families, widows and friends. The Sutton mid-Surrey Circle was founded in 1919 at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sutton and includes parishes in Sutton and Surrey.  We gather at Surrey Downs Golf Club on the first Tuesday of every month for a meeting at 19.30hrs, followed by dinner.  Anyone interested in knowing more, please contact either Adrian Mann or Andrew Theobald through the Contact Form on the Parish Website or visit: https://www.thecatenians.com/

Holy Cross Lunch Club

All are invited to join us for lunch after 12 o’clock Mass on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month. We share a simple meal of homemade soup and bread followed by a delicious dessert with tea or coffee provided too. On the other Fridays of the month tea and coffee only are served.

During the week on Tuesdays and Thursdays after the 10 a.m. mass, we invite you to the Parish Centre for tea, coffee and refreshments.

There is no charge but donations are welcome as the proceeds go to Father Desi’s School in Uganda which has approximately 260 pupils. This year funds are being raised to provide new accommodation for the girls.

Sutton Food Bank

For some time, Holy Cross Parish has collected food items for the Sutton Food Bank which has four distribution Centres in the borough.  People in need are referred to a Food Bank and are provided with an emergency three day supply of food. Help and advice is also given to lift people out of poverty. Unfortunately, the need for food aid has grown in the UK in recent years.

Place your donations in the big box in the Church Porch which is collected every week by parish volunteers for delivery to the Warehouse in Sutton. Thank you so much for your support.

Long life UHT Milk (Semi and Whole)

Long Life Orange Juice

Tinned tomatoes or jars of pasta sauce

Tinned soup, meat or vegetables

Tinned custard or tinned fruit

Toiletries

Items should be unopened/undamaged and have minimum 3 months left until use by/best before dates. Please no pasta or baked beans.
