Following last year’s cancellation, we are pleased to announce that this annual activity is back, and commend it to boy and girl altar servers aged 10 – 15 years within Southwark Diocese. Summertime 2021 will take place at the Oratory School in Reading and will open with Mass celebrated by Archbishop John Wilson. Activities will include talks, discussions, prayer, daily Mass, as well as sport, a trip to Thorpe Park and Swimming.

St. Philomena’s School Open Evening recheduled
As a direct result of the recent extension of the Government Covid-19 regulations, this Open Evening has had to be postponed. The Open Evening will now take place “on Tuesday 14th September 2021.” This is for “Year 5 Students” only by appointment. Please go to the school’s website to book a place for the Open Evening. To mark the 70 anniversary of the Refugee Convention the National Board of Catholic Women is hosting a webinar with Sarah Teather, Director of Jesuit Refugee Service UK. JRS serves and accompanies the most vulnerable refugees – the destitute and those in detention. The recent JRS report Being Human in the Asylum System is in marked contrast to the government’s proposals New Plan for Immigration published at almost the same time. CAFOD: Thanks to your support, CAFOD has been helping communities around the world cope with the pandemic. Just in Zambia, in the past year, our reports show we’ve been able to reach 1,234,200 people with messages on COVID-19, provide 13,312 people with access to safe water, train 392 frontline health workers from Zambia’s 11 dioceses on how to prepare and respond to COVID-19 in their local communities and donate over 1000 handwashing hygiene stations in communities to support handwashing measures. Thank you for standing alongside people in Zambia and for supporting people in more than 30 other countries worldwide.
