These elements are what make a pastoral council \u201cpastoral\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the role of a PPC?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The agenda of a Council is primarily to research, consider and propose for action those matters considered to be truly \u201cpastoral\u201d. The Council will foster the mission of the parish which is grounded in the mission of Christ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holy Cross PPC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Members are drawn from representatives of all the main parish groups and areas of activity and interest in the Parish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PPC Membership and areas of involvement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As of October 2024, the council members are:<\/p>\n<p>Father Vincent Okon: Parish Priest<\/p>\n<p>Chair: Andrew Theobald, Director of Music, 11.00 Choir Master, Stewards, Webcam<\/p>\n<p>Secretary: Alex Faircloth, Churches Together representative and Missio Local Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Kathleen Ball: Folk Choir leader, Deanery Mentor for Evangelisation, RCIA<\/p>\n<p>Natacha Crosdale: Parish Lead Evangelisation and Baptism<\/p>\n<p>John Hickey, Co-Ordinator Home Visits and Communion<\/p>\n<p>Cherryl Howlett: Parish lead Formation, Marriage Preparation co-ordinator, Extra-ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion co-ordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Howlett: Webmaster, Safeguarding Representative, Marriage Preparation co-ordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Sandy Misquitta: Deacon<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Tuke: Readers Rota<\/p>\n<p>Esme Wei:\u00a0 Children\u2019s Liturgy, Baby and Toddler Group<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Contact members of the PPC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Either in person or via the Parish website contact form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">==========<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Holy Cross RC Church, Carshalton, <\/strong><strong>Parish Pastoral Council<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Highlights of the discussions at the meeting held on 24<sup>th<\/sup> February 2026<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Options for portable card readers would be passed to the Finance Committee for consideration.<\/li>\n<li>An updated list of visiting Extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist was being prepared and it was hoped to provide more home visits to parishioners on request.<\/li>\n<li>Altar servers would receive their St Stephens medals on a date to be agreed after Easter.<\/li>\n<li>Father Vincent would call a meeting of the liturgy group to plan the Services for Holy Week and Easter<\/li>\n<li>A Penitential Service would be held on Friday 27<sup>th<\/sup> March at 6.30p.m.<\/li>\n<li>A Parish Expo was planned to be held after Easter with the aim of encouraging more volunteers in Parish Groups.<\/li>\n<li>Improvements were needed to the Wi-Fi connections throughout the Church, Parish Centre and the Parish Office with the installation of additional routers. \u00a0The Finance Committee would be asked to consider the funding.<\/li>\n<li>Easter figures would be placed in the front garden of the Church but were not to affect the lighting of the fire at the Easter Vigil.<\/li>\n<li>Father Vincent would reply to suggestions received from parishioners for consideration.<\/li>\n<li>A request was made for the Parish to sponsor the training of a missionary priest through Missio (Mill Hill) Further information was needed on how this could be done.<\/li>\n<li>Father Vincent would like to reintroduce the Corpus Christi procession. It used to take place in the grounds of St Philomena\u2019s School. To be discussed further.<\/li>\n<li>Next PPC meeting will be at 7.15pm on Wednesday 6<sup>th<\/sup> May 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Alex Faircloth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PPC Secretary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>March 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>====================================================<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Highlights of the discussions at the meeting held on 25th November 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Work is in progress to publish a Parish Financial Statement for 2025.<br \/>\n\u2022 Father Patrick Udotai of St Elphege\u2019s will succeed Fr Jim McGillicuddy from Our Lady of the Rosary as Dean of Sutton Deanery from January 2026. There are plans to increase joint events across parishes. The creation of a deanery directory of Choir Leaders and musicians is being proposed for consideration.<br \/>\n\u2022 The Sparks of Light event in October had provided a great response from those who attended and it was hoped that the event could be repeated in parishes across the Deanery.<br \/>\n\u2022 The Holy Cross Mother and toddler group needs volunteers to run the Term Time, Bi-Weekly sessions on a regular basis and to ensure its future.<br \/>\n\u2022 The Holy Cross Carol Concert will be held on Sunday 14th December at 4 p.m. and an evening Advent Service on Friday 19th December.<br \/>\n\u2022 Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Services are always fully attended and plans were made to provide sufficient Stewards throughout and ensure safety precautions were followed for buggy parking.<br \/>\n\u2022 The exterior of the Church and front Garden would be decorated and nativity figures were being created with lighting. Donations of materials were requested.<br \/>\n\u2022 Proposals were made to create temporary banners outside the Church to promote key features of the Christian Year i.e. the Christmas and Easter messages.<br \/>\n\u2022 To help at fundraising events and with Second Collections, it was suggested that a portable credit\/bank card reader be purchased.<br \/>\n\u2022 A memorial service would be held for Father Henry on Saturday 13th December and Father Luke would celebrate 71 years since his ordination on 8th December and his 96th birthday on 18 December.<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong><em>Next PPC meeting will be at 7.15pm on Tuesday 24th February 2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alex Faircloth<br \/>\nPPC Secretary<br \/>\nJanuary 2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">==========<\/p>\n<p><strong>Safeguarding Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Roman Catholic Diocese of Southwark and the Parish of Holy Cross Church are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding in relation to children and vulnerable adults.<\/p>\n<p>All parish members involved in activities with children, young people or vulnerable adults need to complete an application process, possibly including references, and must obtain a DBS declaration which needs to be kept updated.<\/p>\n<p>Any concerns please email, but if urgent consider contacting the Police.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"carshaltonsg2@safeguardrcaos.org.uk\">carshaltonsg2@safeguardrcaos.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">==========<\/p>\n<p><strong>Repository<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have a selection of Mass Cards and greeting cards for all occasions. First Communion gifts are usually available all year round.<\/p>\n<p>We have the new Roman Sunday Missal, rosaries, statues, bibles, children&#8217;s books etc. We also stock Christmas cards and Advent calenders.
