COVIT-19 GUIDELINE at HOLY CROSS: Currently the number of persons allowed in the Nave is 140: 6 people in each of the 9 rows of benches at the back of the Nave and 4 in the alternate rows at the front. If you are in a group of more than 4 persons, please sit at the back. Please observe any request to, ‘Please Leave a Space’ by anyone who wishes to sit on their own. Everyone over the age of 10 is required to wear a mask at all times and everyone must use the hand-sanitiser provided. Track & Trace will be via the NHS App only.  PARISH SECRETARY

 Holy Cross Carshalton is looking to recruit a part time Parish Secretary to assist in the administration of a busy parish. This will initially be on a 12 months fixed term contract. The role is to provide comprehensive support to the Parish Priest in all administrative matters within the Parish and will cover secretarial, financial and office management work. Previous secretarial experience is essential – along with good knowledge of bookkeeping/ financial work.  The successful candidate will be fully conversant with current office software such as Outlook, Word and Excel and be generally comfortable with IT and office equipment. He/she will have excellent telephone skills and a good understanding of the workings of a Roman Catholic Parish. Our ideal hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 9am – 2pm, Fridays 11am -4pm.  Rate of pay £13 per hour. Holidays by negotiation. Holy Cross Special Ministers: Now that Covid-19 restrictions are easing, Fr. Henry asked me to prepare the rota, allowing one minister to assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at each Mass. Of course, for the time being at least the chalice is NOT offered. RCIA- Journey in Faith 2021–2022: Journey in Faith is the process by which adults can prepare to be received into the Catholic Church. It aims to help people deepen their knowledge of Jesus and their relationship with Him. Weekly sessions take people through the key teachings of the Catholic Church and look at the issues facing Catholics in today’s world. We look in detail at the sacraments and prepare those who decide to become Catholics to receive the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil. Other parishioners who would like to join us and perhaps refresh their own faith are also very welcome. Sessions begin with an introductory evening and refreshments on Thu. 23rd Sep. at 7:45PM in the parish centre (unless anything changes re. COVID restrictions). If you are interested and would like to find out more, please come along and feel free to bring friends and family with you.  Please contact the RCIA Team via the contact form on the parish website, so that we have an idea of numbers.

The Archbishop’s Certificate (ArchCert): an online course for all in Southwark who wish to know their Catholic faith more deeply. Participants will take a two-year journey through the Church’s teaching to understand their faith in a more profound way and be able to share it with both confidence and joy. PRESBYTERY REFURBISHMENT: The Diocese has given the permission to begin the process of refurbishment of the Priest’s House with the invitation of Bids. A Team in the parish are working to sort this out. Do support the works with your prayers and finances if you can.

Sutton Catenians: Sutton Catenians are hosting a Memorial Mass for Brother Paul Trotter, RIP, at 10AM on Sat. 18th Sep. Catenians support each other in their Catholic lives.

Want to help Afghan refugees? Sutton has joined the London wide effort for donated items. Please donate clean or new items in a sealed bag /box and deliver to one of the donation centres. Currently children’s shoes and clothes, nappies, baby milk (halal), baby bottles, adult shoes and clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste. Covid – 19 Guide line for Churches.  Following the new Guide-line and with the meeting that was held with a few parishioners we can now announce that the Mass attendance has been increased to 140 from this weekend 4th September. We however would kindly request that the existing requirements such as Face Masks etc still be kept. Details are on the Parish website under the Home page.

Besides, we need more volunteers to clean and sanitizer the Church after every Mass as at the moment there are only a few doing that. Make use of the Cards that are provided by the Stewards if you feel vulnerable. Thank you so much for your cooperation

WHAT’S NEW: Young People, NEW to the Saturday Evening Vigil Mass is the formation of a group of musicians (Grade 2 and above) ie two violinists, cello player, flute player and clarinet player. Also needed will be Choristers from age 10 plus seniors of all voice parts. If you would like to, and feel you have the confidence to do so, the Choir and Musicians will lead the Congregation during the Mass with hymns, motets and music to reflect the Liturgical part of the year. We have a professional organist who will also help with the formation of the group.

Mass Intentions. The greatest gift you can give a loved one deceased or living is the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass.  We have the opportunity to offer such Mass for your own intentions and for them. Most of our Masses have no Intention and we encourage parishioners to offer Masses. Please pick a Mass envelope at the back of the Church to book a Mass, together with your offering either drop it in the Sacristy or through the Letter box of the Presbytery.

WHAT’S NEW: NEW to the Saturday Evening Vigil Mass is the formation of a group of musicians (Grade 2 and above) ie two violinists, cello player, flute player and clarinet player. Also needed will be Choristers from age 10 plus seniors of all voice parts.

The Choir and Musicians will lead the Congregation during the Mass with hymns, motets and music to reflect the Liturgical part of the year, with a professional organist who will also help with the formation of the group.  Contact Pamela Morris  morri46pmms@gmail.com

Covid – 19 Guide line for Churches.  Mass attendance has been increased to 80 and kindly follow the existing requirements such as Face Masks etc. Details are on the Parish website. More volunteers needed to clean and sanitizer the Church after every Mass.

Use the Cards that are provided by the Stewards and Volunteers if you feel vulnerable. Thank you so much for your cooperation

Presbytery Refurbishment. The Diocese has given the permission to begin the process of refurbishment of the Priest’s House. As it’s a major work, bids have been invited for the it, one from the Diocese and two local ones. A small team in the Parish are working to sort out this which will then be discussed in the Parish Volunteer Management Team. Do support the works with your prayers and finances if you can.

Parish Secretary; The parish would like to hire the services of a Secretary to help with the running of the Parish. An advert for this position will soon be placed on the parish website.

 Parish Registration; A number of people, new parishioners and existing have asked about Parish Registration. There are Cards in the narthex of the Church, (at the back) which you can fill and hand in at the sacristy or through the Priests house letter box. We will follow GDPR protocol in handling your data.

RCIA Publicity at the Masses. The Catechists of the RCIA Programme will be speaking this weekend at all the Masses about this year’s Programme after the Holy Communion. Thank you so much.

School Forms.   I will be signing School Forms this week on Wednesday and Friday from 11hrs to 14hrs and from 18hrs to 20hrs at the Parish Centre due to unavailability of space at the Presbytery at the moment.  Please do not bring your Forms into the Sacristy. Thank you.
